“Becoming A Hoyas” is a project that sits at the intersection of my academic journey and personal growth at Georgetown University. It’s a venture into reimagining the first-year experience for new students, aiming to make it as welcoming and supportive as possible.
The idea was sparked by the realization that the transition to university life is a significant one, filled with potential for both growth and challenges. With a background in sociology, public humanities, and educational technology, I was driven to contribute to a more inclusive and engaging start for freshmen. This project was a collaborative effort, shaped by insights from faculty, students, and education experts. Together, we used design-thinking to tailor a curriculum that addresses the diverse needs of our student body, focusing on community building, intellectual curiosity, and well-being.
Working on “Becoming A Hoyas” has been incredibly rewarding. It taught me the importance of thoughtful educational design and its power to positively affect students’ lives.
