Walking into a university library has always felt like stepping into a world of quiet discovery, surrounded by books that hold centuries of thought. But as the world shifts more towards digital, our libraries are starting to feel a bit behind. “Beyond the Bookshelf” is my way of thinking about how we can gently nudge them into the future. It’s about imagining a space where the calm of traditional libraries meets the convenience of the digital age.
Today, our libraries do a great job of providing a peaceful place to study and an impressive collection of books. But as we all start to do more on our screens, there’s a growing need for libraries to evolve too. With “Beyond the Bookshelf,” I’m exploring how we can make this transition: keeping all the good stuff about libraries while adding in new features like digital services, areas for group work, and tech that makes learning more interactive.
I’ve always found libraries to be special places, and I believe they can stay that way. “Beyond the Bookshelf” reflects my journey to figure out how. It’s about creating libraries that remain beloved parts of our communities, where the thrill of learning keeps up with the digital world, making sure libraries stay relevant and welcoming for everyone.
